Disable Google AI Overview

❌ There’s No Built-In Setting to Turn It Off. As of now, Google does not offer a toggle or setting to disable AI Overviews completely.

That said, there are plenty of ways to avoid AI on Google

After you run a Google search, an AI-generated summary might appear at the top of the results. Here’s how to minimize or bypass it:

1. The best solution is to use a different search engine!

Like startpage.com & duckduckgo no AI there! (Bing is also filled with AI, so avoid that one)

2. To switch to classic search results:

  • Click or tap the “Web” tab at the top of the results page
  • This view removes AI Overviews and shows only traditional blue links
  • It also strips out other enhanced features like snippets or featured answers

3. Install a Browser Extension

Several browser extensions are designed to hide or block AI Overviews:

These tools remove the AI section from your search results.
The Verge has specifically recommended “Bye Bye, Google AI” for Chrome users.

4. Send Feedback to Google

If you find AI Overviews unhelpful or intrusive, you can share your feedback directly:

  • Go to Settings > Send feedback from the Google homepage or search results page
  • Let Google know how AI Overviews are affecting your experience

5. &UDM=14?
